Bakgrunn
Gunhild Ring Olsen er førsteamanuensis (PhD) ved Kristiania, der hun underviser i journalistikk, metode og kommunikasjon.
Olsen har bred kunnskap innen feltene (digital) kildekritikk, automatisering av nyheter, undersøkende journalistikk, falske nyheter, nyhetsutvelgelse, journalistutdanning og profesjonssosiologi.
Olsen har tidligere arbeidet ved journalistutdanningene i Volda og ved OsloMet, samt ti år som journalist og redaktør i redaksjoner som Farsunds Avis, Universitas, VG, Aftenposten og Klassekampen. Hun har sin doktorgrad fra Universitetet i Bergen (2018) og har siden 2020 vært styremedlem og sekretær i Norsk Medieforskerlag. Fra 2014 til 2015 var hun Fulbright visiting scholar ved School of Communication ved American University i Washington DC.
