Admission to the Master of Media Arts program must submit both program-specific requirements and general admission requirements.

Entrance exam
The Master of Media Arts program-specific requirements consists of three parts:
1) Letter of Application
2) Portfolio
3) Curriculum Vitae (CV)
1. Letter of Application
The letter of application should outline the applicant’s academic area of interest, goals, and motivation for applying to the program. It should also include a preliminary description of the topic for the master’s project.
The letter of application must include:
- Motivation and goals for applying to the program.
- Presentation of the desired topic for media arts exploration in the master’s project.
- Background of the applicant’s interest in the topic, its societal relevance, suggested research question(s) that frame the topic, methods/process frameworks, and relevant theoretical perspectives or knowledge sources.
- The topic is not binding for the entire master’s period but will serve as a guideline for assigning a master’s supervisor.
2. Portfolio
The applicant must submit a minimum of three and a maximum of six portfolio pieces that demonstrate their academic and artistic level.
Provide a brief introduction describing the theme and framework of the works/projects.
Describe the process and methods used in at least one of the works.
The portfolio may include supplementary files (e.g., video, audio, etc.) or a URL linking to a website where the works are adequately presented.
3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
The CV must outline the applicant’s education and work experience, independent artistic/creative practice, and any other relevant skills or experience.
Summary:
- 3 documents: Letter of Application, Description of projects, CV.
- 3-6 Portfolios works (if online portfolio is not been used).

1. Letter of Application
1 document.
The letter of application must not exceed 800 words.

2. Portfolio
Part 1: Mandatory Description Document
You must submit one document detailing the following:
- Description of the theme and framework of your projects.
- Description of the process of at least one of the projects.
File Format: Word (.doc/.docx) or PDF.
Part 2: Portfolio Works (Choose One Method)
You must submit a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 portfolio pieces using one of the two methods below:
- Option A: Online Portfolio: Include the link (URL) to your online portfolio within the mandatory description document (Part 1).
- Option B: File Upload: Upload 3–6 separate files containing your portfolio works.
File Formats: Video (Mp4/Mov), Sound (Wav/Mp3), Images (JPG, Png, Tiff, PDF).
3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
1 document.
Fileformat: Word (doc/docx) or PDF.
Submission Guidelines
- The admission test must be submitted digitally via Mitt Kristiania
- Incomplete submissions will not be assessed.
- You must upload one file per task/assignment.
Note: Depending on the size of the files and the speed of your network, uploading may take several minutes. We ask you to be patient, let the machine work, and not "refresh" the page or perform other actions that interrupt the upload. If you do this, you must start over completely. You will receive information about progress while uploading
Admission Process and Assessment
The letter of application, CV and Portfolio works will be evaluated and ranked by a board of staff members from the Master in Media Arts. In the event of full admission, applicants who were not admitted in the first intake will be placed on a waiting list.
Applicants will be ranked based on:
- Artistic level
- Previous education and experience
