Department of Music
The Department of Music is academically anchored in the practical, creative and performing arts and covers the full breadth of the art and culture field.
The department offers seven different bachelor degree programmes that educate performing and creative artists in popular music and performing arts, songwriters, music producers, designers and project managers with a practical-theoretical approach. The students benefit in particular from the interdisciplinary expertise at the department through a number of collaborative projects.
The academic staff is composed broadly and has a large proportion of performing and creative artists who are active nationally and internationally. The teachers possess a high level of academic expertise and they contribute through individual guidance to the students' development through exploration, critical thinking, reflection and method.
The department aims to participate in the artistic discourse and be a visible premise provider in our disciplines. In a research context, the Department of Music has special responsibility for the work with and dissemination of artistic development work. The department also conducts research activities in music production and in the field of project management for the arts and creative industries.
