The one-year programme Collaboration in Working Life focuses on how collaboration between various actors can contribute to a better working environment.

The challenges and opportunities of the future are numerous, but changes in the world remind us that we cannot take our democracy or our rights in the workplace for granted. Our ability to interact and collaborate is the most reliable guarantee for creating sustainable solutions that can be further developed in the years to come.

It is a strength for Norwegian working life that we have established clear common rules for interaction and participation through the Norwegian model. Regardless of whether we are employers, employees, part of the marginalized groups, or retirees, the Norwegian model aims to promote welfare for all.

Knowledge of the Norwegian model and the competence to apply it are therefore crucial for maintaining good and democracy-preserving interaction and collaboration in the future. The Norwegian model is at its best when the parties in the workplace jointly find good solutions, and the program aims to equip students to strengthen this model in practice. Whether one wishes to work or is working as a personnel manager, business owner, union representative, or employee in an employer association, it is important to have a good understanding of the Norwegian model and how one can contribute to interaction for a better working environment.

In the program, students learn about the Norwegian model and tripartite cooperation, how organizations function, labor law, and how to plan and conduct both negotiations and influence processes. These are areas of competence covered by the mandatory courses, which constitute 30 of the total 60 credits. The elective courses allow students to choose between various complementary topics within organization and working life.

Kristiania has collaborated with several trade unions over a long period, and there is broad agreement among the union boards that the mandatory areas of study are very important for all parties in the tripartite cooperation.

Through the program, students will achieve general competence that enables them to discuss current phenomena, plan and conduct negotiation tasks, and navigate effectively in complex organizations. This competence will enable them to contribute to value creation, handle ethical issues, and exercise good role understanding, collaboration, and interaction in the workplace.

The program is well-suited for those who are already employed. People have different backgrounds and motivations for learning more about interaction in the workplace, and therefore half of the courses in the one-year program are electives. This provides the opportunity to tailor a program that offers the greatest value for the individual. The one-year program "Interaction in the Workplace" is also well-suited as a specialization in addition to existing education or as a foundation for continuing with bachelor's studies relevant to the field.

The academic environment associated with "Collaboration in Working Life" has broad expertise in labor research and dissemination of the subject areas. The academic environment also maintains close contact with the workplace and is updated on research, development, and practice within the field.

The one-year programme Collaboration in Working Life is an online study program available to students across the country. The program is designed with flexibility in mind and can be completed as a full-time or part-time study, making it easy to combine with work or other life commitments.

The program gives students the freedom to complete all courses online, when and where it suits them best, and at their own pace. Courses can be taken individually, or students can choose to complete 60 credits to obtain a diploma for a one-year program. This provides a unique opportunity to tailor the study to individual needs and life situations.

The program is particularly well-suited for those who:

have several years of work experience and wish to combine their experience with new competence to become an actor contributing to a better working environment.
are union representatives. The program is especially useful for individuals with union positions. It will provide greater confidence in the role of a union representative and enable them to perform better and take on new or more challenging positions. The union representative gains fundamental competence that is likely to be valuable in their own professional performance and relevant for further career development after a period as a union representative.
are business owners, HR managers, all managers with personnel responsibility, safety representatives, AMU members, and others working to create a good balance in the workplace from both an employee and employer perspective, for the benefit of society.
wish to actively work to strengthen the workplace through tripartite cooperation.
