Exercise Science in Health and Performance Development (TreVit)

Exercise science is a field that explores how to test and train in order to ensure optimal physiological and mechanical adaptations related to health and performance. The main focus is on endurance and strength, but explosiveness and balance/mobility are also given some attention.

Background

The research group's projects primarily apply a natural science approach, although qualitative methods are occasionally used when appropriate.

Key research areas include:

  • Training

  • Testing

  • Adaptation related to strength, speed, endurance, and balance/mobility training

  • Health assessment

TreVit collaborates with several national and international institutions, such as:

NTNU, NIH, UiA, UiS, UiT, and Olympiatoppen
University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, Fulham Football Club in London, Aspetar in Doha, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Nucleus of High Performance in Sport – São Paulo, and the University of Melbourne.

Thomas Haugen is an Associate Professor at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences and primarily teaches exercise science and physical activity at the School of Health Sciences. He leads this research group.
