Things to Remember When You Return from Exchange
1. Apply to have your exchange recognised and upload necessary documents
To have the credits you completed at the foreign institution recognised as part of your degree, you must apply for credit transfer and upload your transcript through StudentWeb. Please refer to the guide on how to apply for recognition of your exchange studies here (in Norwegian).
- The transcript must be an official document issued by the institution where you studied, typically including the institution's logo as well as a signature and/or official stamp.
- If you participated in an Erasmus exchange, it is important that you also upload the Confirmation of Stay form. This form must be completed and signed by a staff member at the institution where you studied.
2. Send in an evaluation of your exchange
As your exchange semester draws to a close, you will receive an email from us with a link to a survey in Nettskjema. In the survey, you can share your experiences as an exchange student at your host institution. We would greatly appreciate it if you completed the survey, as it helps us gain insight into what it is like to live and study there.
If you participated in an Erasmus exchange, you will also receive a separate Erasmus Participant Report from the European Commission. The EU uses this information for statistical purposes and to identify potential improvements to the Erasmus programme, so it is important that you complete this report as well.
3. Wait for approval
The deadline for uploading your transcript from the host institution is 1 September if you were on exchange during the spring semester, and 1 March if you were on exchange during the autumn semester. Our processing time is typically approximately two to three weeks after these deadlines.
When we process your application for credit transfer, we will verify that you have uploaded all required documentation and that you completed (and passed) the courses you originally planned to take.
If you completed courses that differ from those approved in your study plan, these must be approved by the Head of Study Programme.
If you did not pass one or more courses, you may be required to take replacement courses to make up for the missing credits. We recommend checking with your host institution whether it is possible to retake the course there. Alternatively, you can contact AFSO (Student Services) at Kristiania to create a plan that will help ensure your academic progression. If you participated in an Erasmus exchange, you are entitled to a 50% reduction in tuition fees for replacement courses at Kristiania.
Please note: Your Kristiania diploma and transcript will not show which courses you completed during your exchange, nor the grades you received. Therefore, it is important that your official transcript from the host institution is uploaded and registered in StudentWeb as a supplement to your Kristiania diploma.
