About this month kAI-evening

AI is usually discussed as something that happens to us, like a paper to write, advice to interact on, a forecast to prepare for. This talk argues the opposite. The AI-enabled society we end up with will be shaped less by what the technology makes possible than by what citizens, professionals and institutions insist on, and by what we quietly accept.

We begin by asking what we actually mean by an AI-enabled society, and what changes strategically once an abundance of X becomes a reality. Drawing on experience from assessing real AI systems in healthcare and other high-stakes settings with the ZInspection Trustworthy AI self-assessment process, we then examine the European
principles that define trustworthy AI and what it takes in practice to hold a system to them.

As a conclusion we learn that trustworthy AI is not a property we are given, but a standard we demand.
