Bachelor in Leadership for the Arts and Creative Industries is an interdisciplinary, career-oriented program at Kristiania University College. The program combines in-depth studies in management with industry-specific knowledge and insight into artistic and creative processes. Students learn to lead people, projects, and organizations in creative contexts – from idea and concept to finished production and audience engagement.

The program is designed for students with a genuine passion for art, culture, creativity, and entertainment, who wish to use management as a tool to enable artistic and creative activity.

The creative industries include public and private enterprises across all sectors of culture and media – for example, music, film and TV, performing arts, publishing, media, gaming, events, visual arts, radio and podcasts, advertising, and design. What these fields have in common is that value creation stems from artistic and creative work, combining communication, creativity, and aesthetics.

Therefore, the program emphasizes developing students’ understanding of creative processes and artistic practice, as well as their ability to lead such processes with both insight and respect for the artistic work. This happens through collaboration with a wide range of partners in the cultural and entertainment industries. Throughout their studies, students gain relevant practical experience and insight into professional expectations, while also building an important network for their future careers. Students will also collaborate with peers from Kristiania’s art-focused programs in music, performing arts, film, and media, providing hands-on experience in interdisciplinary project work and strengthening their understanding of how leadership and creativity intersect in practice.

Talent and Product Management

Across all three tracks, students are taught by lecturers with deep, up-to-date expertise in management within the creative industries. Many are part of research groups at Kristiania contributing to both Norwegian and international projects and publishing in leading academic journals within the field. The program’s content and curriculum are research-based and regularly updated in line with new research and industry developments.

The program is closely linked to professional practice and prepares students to enter the workforce directly. It also provides a strong foundation for those who wish to pursue master’s studies. Students apply for admission to one of the three study tracks, but it is possible to request a change after the first year.

Project and Production Management
In this track, students specialize in organizing and managing projects and productions — such as theater productions, film shoots, concerts, tours, events, exhibitions, and more. The variety of projects within the creative industries is wide, but they share common traits: they involve artistic, creative, and operational inputs; they require careful planning and execution with a deep understanding of creative value creation; and they depend on effective teamwork to realize shared goals.

Graduates specializing in Project and Production Management can work as project or production managers, production coordinators, stage managers, or in other roles related to project-based production in the creative industries.

Marketing and Sales
In this track, students specialize in marketing and selling products and experiences that primarily appeal to our senses and emotions. They learn to lead projects and products toward their target markets, with special emphasis on strategies to reach end audiences — for example, building an audience for a film, festival, or performing arts production. Students also gain insight into business-to-business marketing and sales within the industry, including collaboration with partners, distributors, and producers.

Graduates specializing in Marketing and Sales can work as marketing or sales managers, marketing coordinators, social media managers, or in other roles that combine leadership, communication, marketing, and sales within the creative industries.

Talent and Product Management
In this track, students specialize in developing attractive products and talents through strategic management and development. This involves discovering, nurturing, and promoting new voices and expressions. Students may work with talents such as artists, actors, visual artists, and influencers, or contribute to the creation and management of cultural and entertainment products such as music, films and series, festivals, and exhibitions. Key competencies include brand development, negotiation, contract management, financing, and business operations.

Graduates specializing in Talent and Product Development can work as agents, managers, film and TV producers, curators, or in other roles related to talent and product development within the creative industries.
