Learning platform and teaching in practice
Once an online student has been admitted to one or more courses, they are given access to the relevant online courses in the learning platform. Each online course includes guidance texts, video lectures, practice exercises, and mandatory submission assignments. The course also provides recommendations regarding time allocation for the various topics within a course, as well as information on how the different courses relate to one another and the recommended order in which they should be completed. All academic content in the online course refers to the syllabus, provides supplementary commentary on the syllabus, and, where relevant, additional perspectives and critical discussion of the course literature. Each course includes a range of practice exercises and self-tests designed to help students assess their own progress and determine whether the learning outcomes are being achieved.

Each course is divided into study units consisting of video lectures, guidance texts, and a variety of digital learning resources. The number and length of lectures vary depending on the topic. Each study unit concludes with a mandatory assignment that must be approved before the student is allowed to sit the examination. The purpose of these mandatory assignments is to provide students with training in identifying, solving, and discussing legal issues. Students work on case-based tasks that, in scope and level of difficulty, provide thorough preparation for the final examination.

The academic supervisor provides feedback aimed at strengthening both the academic content and the students’ scholarly work. In addition to these learning activities, students are expected to engage in independent study, including both follow-up work and preparation for lectures.

The learning platform provides access to digital tools that enable communication with supervisors and fellow students, planning of individual study progress, identification of potential collaborators, and easy access to administrative support from staff who work specifically with online studies.

Assessment and examination methods
The assessment methods are aligned with the learning outcomes of each course. Each course is assessed through a final written examination.

All courses include mandatory assignments. Mandatory assignments are requirements that must be fulfilled in order to be eligible to sit the examination. Eligibility for the examination presupposes that all mandatory assignments have been approved. The scope and schedule of mandatory assignments are specified in the course descriptions. Mandatory assignments are assessed as Pass/Fail.

For details on the assessment method for each individual course, please refer to the most recent course description. For further information regarding examinations, see Kristiania’s website.
