Pedagogical Platform and Delivery of Instruction
The courses and study activities in the One-Year Programme in Information Technology (IT) are designed to lead students toward the learning outcomes defined for the programme. Kristiania strives to support students’ learning through well-designed learning environments, ensuring that students encounter a variety of learning activities and assessment forms throughout their studies—activities that are relevant to the professional contexts they will enter. The work will require substantial independent effort.

The One-Year Programme in Information Technology is designed for online learning, and each course is delivered as an online module in Kristiania’s learning platform.

Once a student is admitted to one or more courses, they gain access to the corresponding online course modules. Each module includes guidance texts, video and audio lectures, practice exercises, and mandatory assignments. The online course outlines how the various modules relate to each other and in which order they should be completed. All academic content in the course refers to the syllabus, provides supplementary commentary, and may include further elaboration or critical perspectives on the course literature. Each course contains a series of practice tasks and self-tests intended to help students evaluate their progress and support the achievement of the intended learning outcomes.

In each online course, students have access to an academic supervisor (online instructor). The instructor is either the subject expert who developed the academic content or another academically qualified supervisor. To be eligible for the exam, students must complete mandatory assignments on specified topics. The instructor provides feedback on the academic content and structure of these assignments.

The learning platform provides access to digital tools that enable communication with instructors and fellow students, facilitate study planning, and help students find potential collaboration partners within the online course. Students also have easy access to administrative support from staff dedicated to online studies, as well as student advisors.

Kristiania encourages students to collaborate, although participation in group work is voluntary. Collaboration provides opportunities to discuss academic questions and to give and receive feedback on assignments and exam preparations, thereby strengthening both subject knowledge and communication skills.

Examination and Assessment Forms
All courses include digital exams that are considered well aligned with the learning outcomes for the individual course.

Each course includes mandatory assignments. The right to sit for the exam requires that all mandatory assignments are approved. The scope and schedule for these assignments are specified in the course descriptions (mandatory assignments are assessed as Approved/Not Approved).

Refer to the most recently updated course description for details on the assessment form for each course. For further information regarding examinations, see Kristiania’s website.
