Teaching and Learning Platform and Delivery of Instruction
When an online student is admitted to one or more courses, the student gains access to the relevant online courses in the learning platform. Each online course contains guidance texts, video lectures, practice exercises, and mandatory assignments. The online course also includes recommendations regarding time allocation for the various topics within a course, as well as information on how the different courses relate to one another and the recommended order in which they should be completed. All academic content in the online course refers to the syllabus, provides supplementary commentary on the syllabus, and may include additional perspectives and critical discussion of the course literature. Each course includes a number of practice exercises/self-tests designed to help students assess their own progress and determine whether the learning outcomes have been achieved.

Each course is divided into study units consisting of video lectures, guidance texts, and other instructional resources. The number and length of lectures vary depending on the topic. Each study unit concludes with a mandatory assignment that must be approved before the student is permitted to sit the examination. Examples of such assignments may include written papers, multiple-choice tests, reflection notes, video documentation, as well as experiments, exercises, or other activities followed by a written report.

The supervisor provides feedback intended to strengthen the academic content and the students’ scholarly work. In addition to these learning activities, students are expected to engage in self-study, including both preparatory work and follow-up work related to the lectures.

The learning platform provides access to digital tools for communicating with supervisors and fellow students, planning one’s own study progression, finding potential collaboration partners, and easily contacting administrative support staff who work specifically with online studies.

Examination and Assessment Methods
Throughout the programme, a variety of examination and assessment methods are used. The assessment methods are aligned with the learning outcomes of each individual course, while also aiming for an appropriate distribution of different forms of assessment across each semester of the programme. The assessment methods are designed to promote student responsibility. Accordingly, a range of assessment formats is used, adapted to the nature of each course, providing students with different types of challenges, both individually and in groups.

All courses include mandatory assignments. Mandatory assignments are requirements that students must fulfil in order to be eligible to sit the examination. Eligibility for the examination presupposes approved mandatory assignments. The scope and schedule of mandatory assignments are specified in the course descriptions. (Mandatory assignments are assessed as Pass/Fail.)

For details on the assessment method for each individual course, please refer to the most recently updated course descriptions. For further information regarding examinations, see Kristiania’s website.
