WHEN ARCHITECTURE FOUND FASHION: PRADA + OMA/AMO

  • Project period: 2021 - 2022
  • Category: Applied Research

Description

Outgoing research with the objective of the printed publication which will document the inside of the collaboration process between two of the most remarkable creators of our time in architecture and fashion: Rotterdam-based architect office OMA/AMO, led by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, and Milan-based fashion house Prada, led by Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada. The book will touch on many aspects that have not been discussed before, such as AMO establishing the approach to architecture as a medium and the very beginning of the fashion show production. One of the objectives is to document and define the "OMAxPrada" method and the process of the collaboration on a singular fashion show– all the stages of the design process. But the main objective is giving more weight to a fashion show as an ‘artifact’, reconnoitering this as a part of architectural practice in architectural writing.
