Special arrangements, illness and absence

See “Regulations related to admission, studies, degrees and examinations at Kristiania”, section 4-7: Special arrangements.

If your disability, illness or special need leads to a significant disadvantage when taking the exam, you may be entitled to an adapted exam.

Facilitation at the exam must aim to compensate for the disadvantages caused by the disability, while at the same time ensuring that the students are tested equally to the greatest extent possible. The arrangement must be such that the exam performance can be assessed according to the established academic criteria set out in the course description.

Applications for examination arrangements are assessed individually, on the basis of documentation, your wishes and needs, as well as the academic requirements of the course. The application and documentation must be submitted within the set deadlines.

Apply within the deadline – even if the documentation is delayed!

You must apply within the deadline even if documentation is not provided at the deadline. You must send the documentation as soon as possible. On the form, you will find a separate field where you can specify when and where documentation will be submitted.

NOTE: An application and documentation must be submitted for each exam period.
You must send an application for special examination arrangements and required documentation for each exam period. This does not apply if you have received approval for special examination arrangements for the entire study period and have received a written confirmation from the college about this.

Documentation

You must document the disadvantages you have in everyday study, the documentation must be uploaded together with your application and at the latest within the specified deadlines. The application will not be processed until documentation is available.

As a rule, a medical certificate from a GP will be sufficient. In cases where the GP is not an expert in assessing functional impairment or special needs, specialist statements are relevant documentation. Dyscalculia, dyslexia and/or other learning difficulties must be documented in a report examined by a suitable expert, for example a speech therapist.

The documentation must be comprehensive enough to be able to assess the type of facilitation that may be relevant. It is the college, and not the expert/doctor, who decides which measures may be relevant.

Exemptions from the deadlines in acute situations

Exceptions to the application deadlines are granted in acute situations. Situations are considered acute if the cause has occurred, or a diagnosis has been made after the stated deadline. This must be clearly stated in the documentation provided.

In cases of acute illness / medical condition, the application form must be submitted to the examination office and required documentation must be sent by mail or delivered to the reception desk.

Confirmation of granted special arrangment

You will receive confirmation by e-mail
Anyone who is granted special examination arrangements will receive a separate e-mail that defines in writing which special arrangements have been granted and the time period during which they apply.

The e-mail will be sent to your e-mail address. Please read it carefully. It is your responsibility to ensure that the e-mail address in StudentWeb is correct.
