Background

Debasish Ghose is a Professor in the School of Economics, Innovation, and Technology at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences, Bergen, Norway. He received his PhD in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Agder, Grimstad, Norway, in 2019.

His research focuses on applied artificial intelligence and machine learning across industrial domains, health informatics, bioinformatics, federated learning, and protocol design, privacy, and security for Internet of Things (IoT) systems. He leads the Health Informatics and Innovation Lab (HII Lab) at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences.

Prof. Ghose has authored or co-authored more than 45 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He serves as the project coordinator for the Sustainable AI Literacy in Higher Education through Multilateral Collaborations (SAIL-MC) project (2025–2028), funded by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HKDIR).

He teaches courses in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. Prof. Ghose is a Senior Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and serves as an Editorial Board Member of Discover Artificial Intelligence. He regularly reviews for leading journals including IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. He has also served on the technical program committees of major conferences such as IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC, and IEEE WCNC.
