Background

Nigel is a Professor of Air Transport and Tourism Management and Head of the PhD programme in Communication and Leadership at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences. His primary research interests are in accessibility, adventure and experiences, digital transformation, educational research, interorganisational relations, marketing and strategy, service quality, socio-economic analysis, and sustainability. He has published extensively, including in high-ranking journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Transport Geography, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, and Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice. Additionally, he has authored and edited the following books: The Handbook of Accessible Tourism, Airport Marketing, and The Routledge Companion to Air Transport Management.

Nigel has conducted research and consultancy for organisations such as Avinor, Dubai Aerospace University, Fly Laurentians, The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Møre and Romsdal County Council, and the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. He has also managed and participated in projects funded by the European COST Framework (Horizon 2020), the EC ERASMUS+ Programme, the Research Council of Norway (Transport 2025), British Academy/Leverhulme Grants, and the United Kingdom's Economic and Social Research Council. Furthermore, he serves on the editorial board of six peer-reviewed academic journals, including Annals of Tourism Research.
