Background
Ivar Kjellmo is an Associate Professor at Kristiania University College and serves as Study Program Leader for the BA in 3D Graphics and the MA in Media Arts. Kjellmo was educated at NTNU – the Academy of Fine Art in Trondheim, and his 3D-animated graduation project Hospital Highway was accepted for the Autumn Exhibition in 1999.
He teaches and supervises in 3D graphics and has co-authored the first Norwegian academic textbook on 3D graphics.
Kjellmo leads the research group CoMA, and his research focuses on computer graphics, virtual reality, and AI in relation to media. In 2025, he led the research project CTRL AI, which explores artificial intelligence and creative control.
In recent years, Kjellmo has been involved in several artistic collaborative projects focusing on virtual reality, photogrammetry, and graphic work using 3D graphics.
