Background
Kjersti Ruud Walaas is a Social Anthropologist and Associate Professor in Travel and Tourism. Her work and teaching focus on sustainable tourism, tourism and experience development, the impacts of tourism, intercultural competence, and cultural understanding.
Having lived in Asia and Africa, Walaas leverages her extensive international experience in her teaching and research. She is the editor and co-author of the book "Tourism: Global Challenges," written in collaboration with Professor Jens Kr. Steen Jacobsen (UiS/TØI). Additionally, Walaas has written several book chapters and regularly provides advisory and public outreach services on tourism, sustainability, and cultural understanding.
Walaas is also the chief union representative for the Norwegian Association of Researchers at Kristiania.
