Background
Gunhild Ring Olsen is an associate professor (PhD) at Kristiania, where she teaches journalism, methods, and communication.
Olsen has broad knowledge in the fields of (digital) source criticism, automated journalism, investigative journalism, fake news, news selection, journalist education, and the sociology of professions.
Olsen has previously been employed at the journalism schools in Volda and at OsloMet, and has ten years of experience as a journalist and editor in newsrooms such as Farsunds Avis, Universitas, VG, Aftenposten and Klassekampen. She has her doctorate from the University of Bergen (2018) and has been a board member and secretary of the Norwegian Media Research Association since 2020. From 2014 to 2015, she was a Fulbright visiting scholar at the School of Communication at American University in Washington DC.
