Two Types of Erasmus Staff Mobility

Each year, both the International team and Kristiania's various departments and units receive many requests from staff at partner institutions to visit through the Erasmus program, either for teaching or training. Visits last a minimum of 2 days, usually not more than 2-3 days for training, and sometimes longer for teaching. They may involve teaching activities, job shadowing, workshops, etc.

These visits are intended to be mutually beneficial for professional development, sharing knowledge and best practices, and building strong collaborations and partnerships. Visits solely to discuss partnership agreements or research collaborations do not fall under this scheme.

From Request to Reception

Kristiania receives a large number of such requests each year, and the International team forwards these to the relevant departments. Where possible, we refer partners to our International Partner Days, held in mid-May each year (see below).

We are not obligated to accept visits. If your department or institute is unable to accommodate a visit, either because it is not convenient or not mutually beneficial, you may politely decline such a request. However, we include staff mobility as an option in all new agreements, and we aim to welcome partners who wish to visit Kristiania to the best of our ability.

How to Host Incoming Staff Mobility

It is easiest to host a staff member who has provided information about:

  • Proposed dates for the visit
  • What they wish to teach or receive training in
  • Goals they wish to achieve by visiting Kristiania

If you receive a request to host a visit and wish to do so, you are free to accept the visit yourself, although it is useful to inform the International team. We can also share updated PowerPoint presentations about Kristiania. You can read more about what we mean by Training Mobility and Teaching Mobility on our staff pages.

Specifically, the department/institute is responsible for ensuring that the visiting staff member:

  • Receives a guest desk, a place to work
  • Receives a brief programme with activities during working hours. It is common for there to be some time for individual work, etc.
  • There are no costs for the department, and the staff member receives a scholarship from their own institution.

Which Documents Need to be Signed?

Erasmus documentation can be signed by the department or institute head hosting the visit, and typically includes:

  • Mobility agreement with dates and program for the visit ("Teaching Agreement" or "Training Agreement")
  • Certificate of Attendance, confirming the visit is completed

Note that visits involving teaching (but not training) require a signed Inter-Institutional Agreement between Kristiania and the home institution. If the institution is not among Kristiania's international partners, write to international@kristiania.no.

International Partner Days

Kristiania holds International Partner Days in the days leading up to May 17 each year. Here, partners have the opportunity to learn about Kristiania and Norwegian higher education, share experiences with international colleagues, and participate in workshops about partnerships and offerings for international students. If it is possible to schedule a visit during the International Partner Week, in order for us to accommodate the staff member as well as possible.
