EcoSystem is an environmental awareness research group at the School of Arts, Design and Media at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences. Its focus is to conduct and nurture direct-impact projects and inspire the transition towards a sustainable Arts and Media industry.

Background

The members of the group comes from a wide background in TV, performing arts, dance and VFX with a common interest in enviromental issues and a passion for contributing to a more sustainable media and arts practice  

Who are we?

  • Marie Dahlén is a university lecturer at Kristiania University College and teaches Real-time 3D Graphics 1 and 2, Virtual Reality, Media Art Innovation Lab, and supervises BA students in Computer Arts.

  • Synne Tollerud Bull is a media artist, researcher, and Professor, currently serving as Pro-Dean of Research at the School of Arts, Design, and Media at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences. Her work bridges theory and practice to examine how emerging imaging technologies such as drones and AI shape societal structures through mediation in art and visual culture.

  • Frode Søbstad is associate professor of Institute of Performing Arts, Film and Media at Kristiania University College of Applied Science Frode Søbstad has a background as a producer and director. His films have received wide international attention, and he has won numerous awards. Søbstad was the producer of the animated feature film The Tower (Tårnet), which was named the best Norwegian animated film of the decade (2010–2020). In his artistic development work at Kristiania, Søbstad focuses particularly on the relationship between society and pedagogy. Currently on the research project One Breath – One Sea, with focus on the sea and humans. Frode is part of the research group Ecosystem, and is a member of the Cilect Sustainability group, which aims to ensure that film schools worldwide take social responsibility and transition to more sustainable productions.

  • Signe Alexandra Domogalla (she/her) is Associate Professor at the Department of Performing Arts at Kristiania. Here she teaches basic competence for musical theatre, performance and dissemination practice, theoretical courses in performing arts, choreography and composition, entrepreneurship for performing artists, and intimacy choreography. Her background is as a dancer, dance teacher and choreographer with main work in the field of jazz and contemporary dance. Interdisciplinary projects and site-specific work are an important part of her artistic practice.
