Registration in the Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA)

The research support team from the library is Kristiania’s first point of contact for questions and inquiries about the Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA). We guide and assist our academic staff with registering results, approve the publication of files in NVA, and check scientific publications in connection with the annual review for the Norwegian Scientific Index (NVI).

What is NVA?

The Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA) is a national digital archive for open access to research publications and scientific material. NVA is operated by Sikt – the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research. Scientific work registered in NVA is checked and reported in the Norwegian Scientific Index (NVI).

NVA makes it easier for researchers to publish openly and achieve the national goals for open access to scientific articles. Many research funders, such as the Research Council of Norway, require that the research they support is published openly. NVA helps researchers and institutions meet these requirements, among other things, through an institutional rights retention atrategy.

You can read more about open publishing on our website.

Go to NVA to explore and register research, dissemination work and artistic research.

The Norwegian Scientific Index (NVI)

The Norwegian Scientific Index (NVI) is a national system for registering and reporting scientific publications from Norwegian research institutions. All scientific publications that meet the criteria to be counted in NVI are registered and verified by the institutions before reporting. The system ensures that publications follow national guidelines for scientific quality and provides a comprehensive overview of Norwegian research output.

Publications registered in NVA are checked and reported in NVI. Each year, institutions must meet the deadline for submitting the previous year’s NVI report. Therefore, everyone producing research results is asked to register their results in NVA by the deadline of February 1 each year.

You can read more about NVI and the criteria for scientific publications here.
