Background
Håvard Kiberg is a researcher III at the Department of Communication and a part-time teacher at the School of Arts, Design and Media (Kristiania University College).
Kiberg is a media scholar and primarily researches the digitalization of the arts, culture, and media industries. He has particularly researched music and audio media, but also in areas such as journalism, social media, and streaming platforms. As of 2025, he leads the research project "Digital Soundscapes" and is a project participant in the research project "Algorithmic Editors and Media Diversity".
Kiberg has extensive experience in teaching and is currently a lecturer in qualitative and quantitative methods. He has previously worked with both teaching and research at the University of Oslo and NTNU. He defended his doctoral thesis "Platform Ambivalence: Exploring the Dynamic Relationship Between Platformization and the Norwegian Music Industry" at the University of Bergen in 2024.
