Background
Frode Søbstad is assistant professor and Head of Film and TV at Westerdals, Kristiania.
Frode has a background as a filmproducer and director, it is especially as a producer for which he has garnered recognition. His films have received wide international attention and received a number of awards, including at major festivals such as the Berlinale, Annecy, Venice IDFA and Nordisk Panorama. The animated feature film The Tower (Tårnet), where Frode was the delegate producer, has been selected at 200 festivals, received 13 awards and has had theatrical distribution in nine countries. The film has awarded at the decade's best Norwegian animated feature film (2010-20).
Frode's broad international network has led to a number of collaborations with well-known directors from all over the world, such as Heddy Honigmann and Pen-ek Ratanaruang.
