Innledning

This course provides an introduction to interaction oriented software architectures, to provide the students with analytical skills, development methodologies and technological skills that are necessary to analyze, plan and implement architectures for integration projects. The course will be taught in the context of enterprise systems and distributed systems, which means that issues of network protocols, scalability and security will be emphasized.

The central topics of this course include applied computer science and systems development.

  • is able to understand clearly the core notions of software architecture design (such as components, interactions, allocations, documentation and so on) and able to distinguish between different forms of software compositions
  • is able to identify different interaction patterns and architectural styles among the real software products / projects
  • is able to understand the relationship between system qualities (such as reliability, performance, security and so on), development methodologies and architectural design
  • is able to demonstrate thorough knowledge of integration strategies (such as encapsulation, reengineering) and software architectural patterns (such as SOA)

Skills

  • is able to select and use a range of integration oriented architectures (SOA, MOM, other middleware)
  • is able to relate system qualities (consistency, security etc.) with software architectures
  • is able to do proof-of-concept architecture design, development, testing and demonstration

  • is able to suggest and evaluate software architectures and integration plans
  • is able to analyze past projects in order to improve existing methods
  • is able to contribute with a modern perspective to large scale integration activities

Exam type: Individual written home examination*

Duration: 3 weeks

Grading scale: Norwegian grading system using the graded scale A - F where A is the best grade, E is the lowest pass grade and F is fail 

Weighting: 100 % of the overall grade 

Support materials: All support materials are allowed

*Resit examination: New assignment with a duration of 10 days.
